Silkworm – It’ll Be Cool

Posted by jarrodperreault on June 19, 2008

Type: Indie Rock

Good Tracks:
1. Don’t Look Back
2. Insomnia
5. Xian Undertaker

Well I went ahead and listened to Silkworm after hearing Bottomless Pit. I noticed they sounded pretty similar to The New Year and upon further Wikipedia hunting I found out Matt Kadane did a lot of work on this album. The first 2 tracks are good but it trails off pretty hard after that. “Insomnia” is a great track. I’ve got a lot of Silkworm albums to get through. You’ll be informed.

The Forms – The Forms

Type: Indie Rock

Good Tracks:
1. Knowledge In Hand
2. Alpha
4. Focus
5. Borges
12. Getting It Back

Decent album. First track is the standout, and the last track has some sweet guitar work and is also nice. Not much replay value, but a nice listen the first few times. Not amazing, not bad.

Rob Crow – Living Well

Posted by jarrodperreault on September 14, 2007

Type: Indie Rock

Good Tracks:
1. Bam Bam
3. Taste
4. Over Your Heart
5. Up
9. Leveling
10. Ring
11. Focus

Rob Crow is the singer for Pinback. Not as fun to listen to as Pinback, but still quite good. Tracks 5 and 9 are pretty good. Though there are a lot of tracks considered “good”, they’re mostly not amazing, but definitely not bad, and you’ll find at least a few interesting moments in each song. Sounds just like Pinback, but for some reason just not as interesting.

The Takeovers – Bad Football

Posted by jarrodperreault on July 3, 2007

Type : Indie Rock

Good Tracks:
1. You’re At It
4. Molly And Zack
7. I Can See My Dog

Weird album. Molly And Zack is definitely my favorite, nice synth chords to go along with the guitar. The guitar to start off track 7 is really great. I’m not sure where but the guitarist from the Decemberists had something to do with this somehow.
